We recommend a mattress! A 2–3" folding or foam mattress usually hits the sweet spot between comfort and headroom. You can use any camping pad or inflatable mattress that fits — perfect sizing isn’t a big deal since our platforms are flat and stable.
If you’re keeping things minimalist, the platform is solid enough to use without one. But for better comfort (and back support), a mattress makes all the difference.

I should let you know that I have studied camping vans for many years now. I have owned a VW Eurovan with a pop-top and a Vanagon Carat MV and I loved both dearly but I did not like the expensive problems that always came up with them.
The fact that you are able to offer such a innovative product w/ delivery included at a very reasonable price is truly amazing!
I really appreciate the high quality of our camper box and personal and thoughtful communication during the process of ordering and receiving. Getting building supplies is tough right now, but I appreciate the effort they put forth in getting to me as quick as possible. And they were very careful to explain small product changes when suppliers ran out, and tried to upgrade in the process.
